Wendy L. Aikin

A passion for guiding people through crisis inspired me to begin The Aikin Family Law Group in 1995. I bring more than 40 years of experience as both a trial attorney and family lawyer in helping clients make wise personal and financial decisions for their futures. I believe the best solutions result when divorcing and separating couples work together to fashion out-of-court settlements. My conflict resolution toolbox utilizes Collaborative Divorce, mediation, and constructive negotiation, to help clients achieve their goals.

My clients and their spouses are generally professionals who place a priority on protecting their children’s interests and preserving family relationships. I focus on complex family law cases, unique family and co-parenting situations and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Every client’s fact situation is different. I approach each respectfully and creatively to help find the optimum way forward for them and for their families, while navigating their legal issues with expertise and compassion.

I was instrumental in the early development and expansion of Collaborative Law Practice in Central Florida, serving as the President of The Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida from 2006-2017, now known as Central Florida Collaborative Divorce.

In addition to being a founding member of The Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida, I am also an active member of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

I also have the privilege of being one of the few collaborative law practitioners in the State of Florida who has achieved the Accredited Collaborative Law Professionals designation, since inception, awarded by the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

As a State of Florida Certified Family Law Mediator, I have also mediated myriad family law cases for well over two decades. My reputation is that of a seasoned, calm mediator who is an excellent listener. I also work cases outside the confines of the structured mediation process as may be needed to bring a case to closure which is outside the norm for Central Florida mediators. For 2024, I have been recognized by Best Lawyers in Family Law Mediation.

I carry the Best Lawyers Best Family Law Lawyer of the Year in Orlando 2022 recognition, as well as being honored by my peers as the Best Collaborative Family Law Lawyer of the Year in Orlando in both 2021 and 2024.

I am especially proud to have assembled a law firm of talented attorneys recognized for their skill and for innovative option-building and problem solving. Our approaches bypass the courthouse backlog and inordinate cost associated with contested in-court litigation. Mindful of time and financial constraints, we are known for our streamlined systems and deep bench of ancillary resources. In the process, we never lose sight of the emotional and financial challenges faced by families during these major life transitions.
